VESSEL REPORT:OFFSHORE PATROL VESSELS

The Royal New Zealand Navy's (RNZN) offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), Otago and Wellington, are the latest generation of cost-effective, highly-capable patrol vessels designed by STX Canada/US Marine for surveillance and protection of the coastal waters around New Zealand and other regions in the southern hemisphere. These ships permit the RNZN to venture further offshore into the Pacific Ocean and down into the southern seas, enabling them to protect New Zealand's coasts more efficiently, and for a longer period of time.
