Structure and Strength of Multilayers

摘要

Artificial atomic-scale multilayers ex- hibit an interesting array of structural behaviors, including large strains and interfacial and alloying stabilization of nonequilibrium atomic structures. The mechanical properties show promising enhancements of hardness. A number of studies, which have combined modeling with thorough structural investigations and fabrication of multilayers with well- controlled structures, have revealed that these high hard nesses are the result of a combination of effects including the im- age dislocation force at the multilayer in- terfaces and the structural; differences of the constituents.
