"The Lack of even a rudimentary purely electric mode seriously handicaps the Insight, especially in heavy urban traffic as I found out the fun way on my way home up main thoroughfare," notes associate Web editor Kirill Ougarov. "Every time traffic inched forward, the engine would kick back on and then turn back off seconds later once traffic stopped moving again. Rinse, repeat several dozen times until I finally got to the next signal. Even if it could make it up to only 10 mph on electric juice alone, it would've resulted in a lot lessrnshaking due to the engine kicking on and off." Out of traffic, Ougarov does appreciate a few of the Insight's qualities. "There is a good chassis underneath, and I like the steering response. With a manual transmission and some tires softer than hockey pucks, this would be a fairly fun, fuel-efficient car to drive."
