Golf is to Europe what the Ford F-Series or Toyota Camry are to the U.S. market. For the fimseven months of 2012, Ford sold 350,455 F-Series trucks in the U.S., and Toyota sold 243,816 Camrys here, while VW sold 278,470 Golfs in 30 European countries, well ahead of the number-two Ford Fiesta at 204,247. For the same period, VW sold just 24,870 Golfs in the States, Befitting VW's antithesis of One Ford-like marketing, the Mark Ⅶ Golf will go on sale in North America some time in the first quarter of 2014.
