On my first long-distance trip (to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca), I stopped at the Supercharger station irr Harris Ranch along Interstate 5 and plugged in. After a few minutes, another Model S arrived, and its driver and I got to talking. "Where you heading?" he asked. "Monterey," I replied. 1 can make it there, but I decided to charge again at the Gilroy station first." My new friend responded, "I'm heading to Gilroy, too, then on to San Jose." Then we got back into our cars and waited. My car was done first, and as I pulled away it dawned on me that the Gilroy station is notoriously busy (only four chargers). Good, I'll beat him there. But a short while later, I saw him in my rearview mirror-closing fast. Hmmm, it had occurred to him, too. He ultimately passed me, but fortunately, the station wasn't too busy. Oh, how brief new friendships can be.
