Our Impreza came to the garage with just 30 miles on the odometer, and within hours I was on I-10 heading to Phoenix to enjoy spring training baseball. Since it was still in its break-in period, I set no land-speed records, but the Impreza nicely handled the climb out of the Indio Valley into the high desert. Never straining or struggling to make the grade, we passed many vehicles in the slow lane with no hint we were pushing the engine too hard. Once we got flat again, the Impreza ate up the desert road as the CVT smoothly switched ratios with no jerking or whining. The sport suspension allows you to feel every pothole and crack, but it's not an uncomfortable ride at all, and the road noise level is tolerable provided the road is not a torn-up, rough mess.
