Back in 1915, blown head gaskets were a way of life for endurance racers, until Permatex founder, Constant A. Benoit Sr., came along. During a 24-hour race that year, at Sheepshead Bay, Long Island, legendary racer, Ralph DePalma, had made four unscheduled pit stops, each one to replace a blown head gasket. During the last stop, Benoit applied some of his experimental gasket cement and DePalma never looked back. Since then, Permatex has been a leader in innovative chemical tools for automotive maintenance and repair, helping car builders and race teams around the world make sure that their cars go the distance. Over the years, Permatex has built a long and storied history in motorsports, supporting many types of professional and amateur racing venues from circle tracks to drag strips to road circuits.
