AAA AND AUTO RACING CONTRIBUTE TO PASSENGER VEHICLE SAFETY

AAA, the first sanctioning body for auto racing in the United States, established the national driving championship in 1909-While recognized as the preeminent Motorsports sanctioning organization in the country from 1911 to 1955, AAA sponsored road races, rallies, and long distance runs to demonstrate the safety, reliability, and technological advances of automobiles of that era. Many of those innovations made their way into the passenger vehicles available to the public. Subsequent technological breakthroughs continue to affect the vehicles we drive today, and those we will drive in the future.
