A vehicle comes into your shop with a typical check engine light. You run the scan which points you in the direction of an oxygen sensor malfunction. The sensor is replaced and the MIL is out. The customer is on their way. A short time later the same customer returns with the same check engine light on. Do you throw another sensor on the vehicle, condemning the replacement sensor as defective or do you investigate further to find the cause of the oxygen sensor failure code? Many times a comeback on an oxygen sensor job will stem from another maintenance issue.
