Last year was a record year both in terms of LNG newbuilding deliveries and new orders placed. 48 conventional LNG carriers (>100,000cbm) and four FSRUs were delivered. The majority of these vessels were originally ordered in 2014 and 2015 on the back of Final Investment Decisions taken on the first wave of US LNG production, as well as, Australian and Russian LNG liquefaction projects. The vessel deliveries were well timed with the commissioning of these projects and in 2018, a record 32.5Mt p.a of nameplate production capacity came online.
