Shipping Developments: In December, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) switched one of two orders that it had for a 154,200 cbm membrane LNGC newbuilding at Imabari Shipbuilding of Japan to a Cape-size bulker. This was to have been delivered to MOL in November 2010, yet her sister LNGC remains due for delivery to a consortium comprising MOL, Sumitomo and LNG Japan in November 2009 and has already been fixed for long-term employment ex-Yemen. BG Group decided not to proceed with plans to sell and charter back four LNGCs from its current fleet. These vessels, all of 138,000 to 145,000cbm, were to have been sold off and taken back on seven-year deals, with GasLog Group of Greece, Malaysia's MISC and Russia's Sovcomflot being shortlisted as prospective buyers. BG has given no reason for deciding not to proceed with their sale.
