Record US product exports

US clean product exports (gasoline, jet, diesel, naphtha) surged to a record high of 1.89 mb/d in 2013 as production rose, with seaborne shipments up 9.7% year-on-year at 1.75 mb/d, according to the latest data from the US Energy Information Administration. US refinery utilisation rates climbed to an average 88.7% in 2013, the highest since 2006, as refiners took advantage of strong margins and access to cheaper shale oil and gas. Refiners were also exporting more to avoid paying higher renewable energy credit costs for fuels sold domestically.
