Sports Car, the very term is controversial. It has been said that Morgans are both the first and last real sports cars, and I'm sure most of us would agree with that sentiment. However, the term dates from just after the Great War, a time when the only Morgans were cycle cars. Not only that, but most motor sports competitions at the time called for cars to have four seats and a roof. These competitions were more akin to modern rallies than races. Even after the touring aspect of competition was forsaken for track racing, events such as the Le Mans 24 hour race called for roofs to be fitted for the first part of the race, and mechanics to be carried in the passenger seats.
