GBRf'S FIRST MUNCIE-BUILT CLASS 66s SET SAIL

The First five Class 66s of GB Railfreight'sorderfor21 new locos have been shipped from America. They were due to arrive in the UK in the first week of July. At a ceremony at the Progess Rail factory at Muncie, Indiana, USA, on 10 June, No 66752 was named The Hoosier State - the common nickname given to Indiana. No 66752 was joined by Nos 66753-756 on the ship to Newport. Construction of the rest of the order is advancing at the Progress Rail factory. On 10 June No 66757 was complete but awaiting painting, No 66758 was nearing completion, No 66759 was having both its cab fitted and internal equipment fitted while No 66760 had much of its internal equipment fitted.The cabs for Nos 66761/762 were being fitted out.The frames for Nos 66761 -766 were in various stages of construction.The batch should finish with No 66772.
