The people behind the 32,000-capacity Ricoh arena on the outskirts of Coventry are not best pleased that their new station, due to open this autumn along with Bermuda Park, will not be served after matches - because there are safety worries about accommodating large crowds when all that is on offer is an hourly single-car Class 153 on the Coventry to Nuneaton shuttle. Longer and more frequent trains are coming down the line with the NUCKLE (Nuneaton-Coventry-Kenilworth-Leamington) project, but for the present there just isn't the capacity -so the new station will start off just serving a local role on quiet days.
