TUBE STATION ROOF SURVEY

Lanes group has carried out its first aerial drone survey at a London Underground station. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was used to inspect the roof at Amersham station on the Metropolitan Line. The survey was completed by two operatives, the drone pilot and a works supervisor, in the equivalent of one working day. Lanes says that using conventional methods the survey would have required four operatives and taken up to five nights. The drone is fitted with a camera which takes scores of ultra-high definition images, and these can be manipulated to analyse the roofs structure and condition.
