Details of the locomotive and carriage fleets for the new Caledonian Sleeper franchise are emerging. GB Railfreight has signed a £100 million, 15-year contract with operator Serco to provide train drivers and traction for the service from the start of the new franchise on 1 April 2015. Industry sources have confirmed that three AC locomotives belonging to the AC Locomotive Group are to be hired by GBRf to haul the Sleeper empty stock between Wembley and London Euston. These are Nos 87002,86101 and 86401. All three will be painted in the new Caledonian Sleeper livery, which is also being applied to the four Class 92 locomotives which will haul the trains between London and Glasgow/ Edinburgh. In the event of nonavailability of a'92'it is understood that the higher capability of the electric train supply on No 87002 would enable it to be used on the full journey.
