AWC LAUNCHES STANDARD PREMIUM CLASS

AVANTI WEST Coast launched its new Standard Premium class on 19 May-initially available as an upgrade on the day of travel. Pitched between Standard and First Class, passengers have roomier seats, more space and a guaranteed table, as well as the option to buy refreshments with a new'at seat order'service. Single journey upgrade prices range from £15 from Birmingham to London to £30 for Glasgow to London. Improved catering and customer service will feature in an enhanced First Class offering to be launched later this year, and this will be available seven days a week. New seats with leather headrests will be installed in Standard Premium and First Class as part of AWC's Pendolino refurbishment programme, which is due to start imminently. Standard class seats will also be replaced, and the on-board shop will be updated. One coach on all 11 -car Class 390s will be converted from First Class to standard, increasing seating capacity by 5%. The first refurbished train is due to enter service in November.
