For world-class manufacturers, auto-mated materials handling is increas-ingly a competitive advantage and a market differentiator. Those are among the reasons Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, or TMMK, installed a fleet of more than 100 automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) to transport raw metal parts and finished subassem-bly components in the three body weld departments of its 7.5-mil-lion-square-foot assembly plant in Georgetown, Ky.
