Ergonomics at the loading dock

Lift truck drivers can be subject to health risks at the loading dock, including dock shock. This chronic condition is caused by whole body vibration exposure when operators drive in and out of trailers. Researchers from The Ohio State University recently conducted a small study to determine if vibration exposure could be reduced if standard forklifts and dock levelers were replaced with new shock-absorbing lift trucks and re-engineered dock levelers.
