Getting plush animals, collectibles and clothing to a mall near you takes more than the wave of a fairy godmother's wand. When The Disney Store's design engineers wished upon a star, they longed for a distribution center that would handle increased volume quickly and accurately. What they got was a facility more than three times the size of a previous distribution center. It features a highly sophisticated automated materials handling system, reliability, and plenty of room to expand beyond the 526 retail stores the facility currently serves in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Six miles of conveyors (Rapistan Systems) and a tilt tray sortation system reduce the lead time it takes to receive, process, and ship merchandise to these outlets, providing better inventory control.
