With more than 70,000 employees and $17 billion in sales, Nortel Networks is a world leader in the wire- less communications industry. And it's also among the first users of real time location systems that rely on radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to track assets. Nortel is committed to research and development to simplify wireless usage, improve service quality, and decrease carrier costs. Much of that research and development takes place at the Wireless Development Centre (WDC) in Calgary, Canada, where engineers focus on developing and testing wireless technologies.
