Bargreen Ellingson, a multi-ser-vice restaurant supply and design company in Tacoma, Wash., offers the largest selection of foodservice supplies west of the Mississippi. To keep up with demand, the company looked for a way to use warehouse space more efficiently and increase picking efficiency to handle a 20% annual growth rate. They installed a high-performance horizontal carousel system. To improve space use and picking efficiency for food service supplies, Bargreen Ellingson installed one pod of four horizontal carousels that are integrated with warehouse management software. The smaller, faster moving SKUs are now on the horizontal carousels, and one person now pulls 200 lines per hour. In addition to saving space and increasing productivity, the handling solution protects supplies and improves inventory organization, accuracy and control.
