Older EU nationals still to apply for residency

Many older and vulnerable European nationals living in the UK may still not have applied for settled status, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Care (ADASS) fears.The deadline to the apply to EU Settlement Scheme, the post-Brexit residency system, closed at the end of June.There have been more than 6 million applications to the scheme up to the end of July - exceeding Home Office estimates.But ADASS has expressed concerns that only 2% of these applications are from those aged over 65, indicating there are many more older and potentially vulnerable adults still to apply.Councils have been sent a list of housing benefit claimants in their area that have yet to apply to the scheme so they can encourage them to submit late applications.
