Council outrage at campaigners' phoney job cuts allegations

A council chief executive has condemned the action of campaigners who sent emails to planning officers suggesting they would lose their jobs.The Fews Lane Consortium campaign group asked the Government to put South Cambridgeshire DC's planning department in special measures after claiming it was not meeting targets for processing applications - something denied by the council.It said 'most' planning officers will 'have to be made redundant due to lost revenue' as more applications are determined by the Planning Inspectorate.But council chief executive Liz Watts fired back at the campaigners.
