Labour leader Keir Starmer has replaced his shadow housing secretary and brought in a highflyer as shadow child poverty minister in a post-elections mini-reshuffle. Lucy Powell takes on the housing brief, replacing Thangam Debbonaire, who becomes shadow leader of the House of Commons. Ms Powell, a Manchester MP, is a former shadow education secretary and deputy chief of staff to former Labour leader Ed Miliband. Wes Streeting, a former deputy leader of Redbridge LBC and a vice president of the Local Government Association, becomes shadow child poverty secretary, joining the shadow cabinet for the first time. Former economist Rachel Reeves is the new shadow chancellor, replacing Anneliese Dodds. Steve Reed remains shadow communities and local government secretary.
