Government-appointed children's commissioners are to step down from Torbay Council next month after significant improvements. After a decade of failing services, commissioner Nigel Richardson said the council had improved enough that he could leave. Speaking at an overview and scrutiny board meeting, Mr Richardson said there was now a 'clear vision and strategy' for the service. He paid tribute to director of children's services, Nancy Meehan, and interim chief executive, Anne-Marie Bond, who was appointed in July. Torbay's children's services were redesigned in July following a second 'inadequate' Ofsted rating in 2018.
