Former deputy Prime Minister Sir Michael Heseltine has urged the Government not to let 'narrow party politics' hold up the devolution agenda. Speaking at a webinar organised by the Centre for Progressive Policy think-tank last week, Lord Heseltine said: 'If you say we can't risk going forward [with devolution] because there might be more Labour mayors, well suppose there are more Labour mayors. That provides a series of platforms for the Labour party. The less devolution you have the more articulate they will be and with cause.
