Keeping Calderdale's children closer to home

We all want our children and young people to have the best possible start in life and to achieve their potential. We have amazing teams giving their all to help achieve this, day in, day out. However, the number of children in care is increasing in England. In Calderdale we have seen a slow rise since the first COVID-19 national lockdown, and we are experiencing first-hand the nationwide issue of escalating care costs. Providing outstanding care closer to home is a priority for us. We have worked hard to develop more local provision and are thrilled to hear our young people describing our services as being like 'family' and saying that staff 'go the extra mile' for them.
