Review into care system imminent

Children's minister Vicky Ford has promised that the long-awaited review into the care system is 'very imminent' and will be 'wide ranging'. Ms Ford told the online National Children's and Adults Services Conference last week that the review had been delayed by the pandemic but added: 'It won't be a review that's shelved and forgotten about. We're committed to it and it should be very imminent.' Asked if she would 'fight the corner' for more resources for early intervention from the Spending Review, she replied: 'We recognise the importance of early help.' But director of social care at the Department for Education, Fran Oram, told delegates that 'we expect a tight fiscal context' from the Spending Review.
