In these times of unremitting gloom it's good to have a glimmer of good news. Two years ago, after the catastrophe of Grenfell, thousands of our fellow citizens woke up to the realisation that they were with living in homes with similar cladding. While the Government was quick to commit to financing its removal from those tenants in social housing it could only offer warm words to those leaseholders in the private sector in similar blocks of apartments. This situation brought out the worst in the myriad of developers and freeholders who hid behind legal get-outs to avoid their moral responsibilities to remove the potentially lethal cladding. For the homeowners their lives as well as their life savings were put at risk.
