The geographical space that is Lancashire is a unique and infinitely diverse environment. The cradle of much of the industrial revolution and the industries that fuelled the British empire, but also home to major high tech industries such as aerospace and significant food and farming industries. Lancashire's Fylde coast was the original workers' playground, yet we are also home to some of the most stunning and rugged countryside in Britain'. So says Lancashire's recently produced Sub-Regional Improvement and Efficiency Strategy - Team Lancashire Working Better Together. The Team Lancashire partnership is made up of the 15 principal councils serving Lancashire's 1.5m people. 'Working Better Together' documents the realism that delivering solutions to the problems facing Lancashire today requires the efforts of more than just one player, and that communities' both want and deserve public services which are: high quality, accessible, cost effective, and joined up.'
