Council chiefs have admitted that mistakes by officers at Waltham Forest LBC led to ￡240,000 of public money being misspent. Five officers are undergoing disciplinary action after allowing rules aimed at preventing fraud to be repeatedly broken over a number of years. Waltham Forest chief executive, Roger Taylor, and council leader, Clyde Loakes, have publicly admitted that money earmarked to help the most disadvantaged in Waltham Forest was mismanaged by council staff.
