DHSC makes £3bn pledge to free up hospital beds

Almost £3bn of the Government’s £5bnCOVID-19 funding will go towardsfreeing up at least 15,000 Englishhospital beds by the end of next week,the Department of Health and SocialCare has announced.It comes after the Local GovernmentAssociation called for targets on delayedtransfers of care, which reached recordlevels last month, to be relaxed amid thecoronavirus crisis.All health and care systems andproviders have now been told to changetheir arrangements and provision ofcommunity support to ‘enable thedischarge of all patients as soon as theyare clinically safe to do so’.
