Last month the Association of County Chief Executives (ACCE) submitted its response to the fairer funding consultation.In a recent survey the fair funding review was regarded by 80% as a high or top priority for ACCE, with 90% of chief executives stating it was central to making business rates retention work.A simpler and more transparent funding formula driven by genuine cost drivers is essential, alongside redressing some of the disparities in council tax levels between counties and other parts of England.
