When is a job not a job? When it is an opportunity to change your lifestyle, bolster your career, work with great people, be part of a positive culture, and bring about change.In a competitive local government jobs market, where the challenges are complex and the candidate pool limited, it is vital to think about senior recruitment in the widest possible sense. In some ways, the actual role at the heart of a recruitment process is not the key driver in gaining a good field and positive outcome. That may sound contrary but consider the thought process you would go through if looking for a new role. Let's say you want to be a head of HR, or DCS, or director of legal, in a local authority. We all know what these roles do within an authority, albeit with some variations. At any one time, there may be five to 10 of these roles in the market. Why might you apply for - a role with authority A but not authority B? There are several possible motivations, and all can be developed and marketed as part of a recruitment process.
