T'ower Hamlet's improvement journey took another step forward last week as the secretary of state, Sajid Javid, handed more powers back to the authority. The move was another vote of confidence for the work Mayor John Biggs and Chief Executive Will Tuckley have been overseeing since a High Court decision in 2014 led to the removal of the previous mayor. The council has been subject to a government intervention order since then. The new leadership have driven change in three key areas: building a new strategy for the authority, with clear priorities, focusing on the resources and reorganising the organisation with a focus on the people.
