Hip fracture patients 'need better after-care'

Four in 10 elderly patients who break a hip suffer delays in treatment which increase their risk of ending up in a care home, says a report. Seven patients a day also break their hips while in a hospital bed and the number appears to be rising, with some hospitals tailing to do enough to keep patients safe, the study found.
