When you have a reputation for being a progressive local authority that's great at talent management it can have a flipside: your staff tend to get snapped up by other councils. Current corporate director of resources, Rob Bridge, is heading off to take the top job at Welwyn Hatfield Council. But as chief executive Paul Medd says: It's something to be celebrated that one of our corporate directors has developed to a point where he has achieved a chief executive role.' It also means he can say with some certainty that whoever fills the vacancy will have a fantastic opportunity to progress their career.
