The reality for local government is that Councils must deliver radical change if they are to survive and thrive. Barnet Council has recognised this reality, and is already a very different organisation to the one it was in 2010. Financial challenges have been met, residents' changing requirements recognised, rapid population growth accommodated, and an ambitious regeneration programme delivered. We have achieved this through a mixed economy of delivery arrangements with outsourcing, joint ventures, arms-length companies, shared services and in-house provision. But now comes the hard part, and we have thought carefully about this future challenge, publishing strategies and plans to take us through to 2020.
