Local government needs to 'get away' from its Oliver Twist-style approach to finance, a council chief executive has urged. Aylesbury Vale DC chief executive, Andrew Grant, told The MJ the sector needed to ditch its 'please sir, can 1 have some more' mantra as he called for a 'massive attitude shift'. But Mr Grant, who has fleshed out an ambition for his authority to be council tax free by 2023, said he was not optimistic that the rest of the sector would follow.
