Cambridgeshire CC and Peterborough City Council could start sharing a chief executive when Mark Lloyd leaves to head up the Local Government Association (LGA). If the move goes ahead, it is believed it will be the first time a county council and a unitary authority have shared a chief executive. Members of Peterborough's cabinet met last week to discuss an 'approach' by Cambridgeshire CC to consider sharing their chief executive, Gillian Beesley, on a temporary basis. Mr Lloyd, who joined Cambridgeshire CC in 2008, starts at the LGA as chief executive in November, when he takes over from Carolyn Downs, who is joining Brent LBC as their top officer. Speaking to The MJ, Peterborough leader, Cllr John Holdich, said the offer was to share the chief executive's role for a year, with an option to review the situation after six months.
