A war of words has broken out among members of Cardiff City Council over the issue of senior pay in local government. The leader of the opposition Plaid Cymru group, CUr Neil McEvoy, used his party's national annual conference to launch a stinging attack on the ruling Labour administration after they blocked an attempt by his members to cap senior officer pay at £100,000 ayear. 'To continue to fund fat cat pay, Corbynite Cardiff Labour will cut services to our elderly people, close play centres, close youth centres and attack working conditions because that is their political choice,' said Cllr McEvoy.
