More councils eye tie-up

Councils in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have added their names to a growing list of those looking at creating combined authorities. Derbyshire is understood to be at the most advanced stage with a consultation expected to be launched next month, before an official approach is made to the Department of Communities and Local Government in October. Progress with discussions in Nottinghamshire is thought to have been slower but the deputy leader of Nottingham City Council, Cllr Graham Chapman, said they were trying to 'synchronise progress with Derby'. Exeter City Council, Teignbridge DC and East Devon DC are also considering the move.
