Cops drop case against former council boss

Leicestershire CC has ruled out an independent review into the standards investigations surrounding ousted former leader David Parsons. The news follows last week's announcement by the Crown Prosecution Service that no further would be taken action against Cllr Parsons, following allegations which resulted in his political downfall. 'There's a bad smell around the county council which can only be cleared by a full and independent enquiry into the exact events over a year ago,' said Cllr Parsons - who remains a district councillor at Blaby DC.
