Building on our strengths

It is an exciting time for South Tyneside, leader of the council, Cllr Iain Malcolm and Cllr Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council who signed our joint City Deal with cities minister, Greg Clark a few weeks ago. We have also started phase one of our ambitious South Shields 365 Town Centre regeneration scheme and we're looking forward to another outstanding summer for tourism. Through the challenges of the last four years we have been determined to maintain our focus on economic growth and regeneration for the long-term, a message that was picked up this week by Chancellor George Osborne when he said the fastest growing economic activity in the country right now is in the North East.
