One of the earliest and most successful shared services organisations is seeking to appoint a new director. EK Services in East Kent covers Canterbury City Council, Dover DC and Thanet DC for whom it delivers ICT, customer services, human resources and revenues and benefits. 'We were set up in 2010 which makes us one of the earliest adopters of shared services - and we are also unique in that we TUPE'd over all staff, which meant we could get things on the move very quickly,' says Donna Reed, who is stepping down from the director role. The organisation, which employs 340 staff and has an annual revenue budget of £12m, reports to a joint arrangements committee established by the three councils. The director leads a management team comprising assistant directors of customer-facing services & HR and Head of ICT, financial management and business support.
