Bucks calls for single county-wide authority

Current and former councillors have raised the prospect of local government reorganisation in Buckinghamshire. Former county councillor Peter Cart-wright has called for a single county-wide authority and an independent member of Wycombe DC, Cllr Gary Hall, recently wrote to the local newspaper, the Bucks Free Press, in support of the idea. 'In my view, to make really significant savings to protect and even improve local services, we have to be look- ing at abolishing all five councils - the county and four districts and replacing it with one new unitary council,' said Mr Cartwright.
