One of Scotland's largest social care charities has proposed to cut staff pay, in order to protect its services. Quarriers wrote to its 2,000 workers last night, informing them that it was starting a 90-day consultation over pay and condi-tions, in order to protect the long-term future of the organisation. 'These are very difficult times for the social care sector in Scot- land and across the UK,' said chief executive, Paul Moore. 'Many organisations are Strug- gling, due to the increased fi- nancial pressures faced by local authorities, which are their main sources of funding.
