Caa-a Whole New Collection

As one of CAA's 'couturiers', we in the Audit Commission at Millbank hugely enjoyed Nicola Bulbeck's high-fashion take on the glamorous world of public service assessment (The MJ, 12 March). Following a blaze of red carpet publicity last week, star-spangled CPA slipped into the shadows as 'last year's thing'. But we hope it will be held forever in affection, even, dare we say, be remembered as an icon which defined its time -like the mini, hot pants or boob tube. But we must reassure Nicola that CAA will not be just a cheap imitation, not the 'same old same old'. The key to CAA is that it will not be 'one-size-fits-all', as CPA was - it will be bespoke, tailored to each area's wish-list of priorities and needs, and cut to fit the information needs of local people.
